After spending two decades working to foster community and sustainability in Portland, OR, and Chicago, Billy Burdett moved back in 2015 to Southwest Michigan, where his love of fresh food and the natural environment first took root as a child. Not long after settling in, a serendipitous connection brought him on board to manage the Harris Family Farm Foundation. Previous work includes co-founding Chicago’s only cooperative grocery store, the Dill Pickle Food Co-op, establishing a thriving school garden program for preschoolers, serving as executive director of Chicago’s Advocates for Urban Agriculture and maintaining Edible Michiana’s website.
