Fall/Holiday 2020 Publisher’s Letter
When I relocated from Evanston, IL, to New Buffalo, MI, in 2003, I never dreamed that I would be a co-publisher of a startup magazine, let alone have great fun doing it. But I did become that co-publisher and have had loads of fun in this role!
Since 2011, each quarterly issue of Edible Michiana has given me the chance to indulge in and learn more about a long-term love of mine: local food and farming. That love started in childhood and I don’t expect it to change.
The idea on which Edible Michiana is based—knowing where your food comes from and supporting local growers and producers—has grown consistently over the past 10 years. Choosing food with an eye toward taste, nutrition and sustainability is a goal for more and more individuals, families and institutions. I am so proud and grateful to have been part of telling these stories and promoting this way of life with two great co-publishers, Victoria Brenneman and Katie Jamieson, and each talented, hard-working person whose contributions have allowed the magazine to appear season after season. Thanks for the memories!
Now it is time for new owners to indulge their love of local and for me to turn over the reins. In 2021 I will continue to be involved with Edible Michiana to help Trevor and Breanna Daugherty transition to their roles as new owners. I sincerely wish them as good a time as I have had. And I encourage all of you to watch for and pick up their wonderful magazine.
