The Perfect Manhattan

My friend turned me on to this variation years ago and I never looked back. You cut the sweet vermouth with dry vermouth, and it takes the drink to a whole new level. I also go heavier on the bitters than some, but you can feel free to start with less if you like.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces whiskey/rye
  • ½ ounce sweet vermouth
  • ½ ounce dry vermouth
  • Ice
  • 3 or 4 dashes Angostura aromatic bitters
  • 1 Maraschino cherry

Instructions

Combine whiskey and vermouths in a mixing glass. Add ice. Stir until cold. Strain into chilled coupe or martini glass. Top with bitters and add a maraschino cherry.
