Ingredients

Cocktail

  • 1.5 ounces Absolut vodka
  • 1 ounce Blueberry Syrup (see below)
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • Fresh basil
  • 2 ounces sparkling wine

Blueberry Syrup

  • 1 cup blueberries (about half a pint, frozen is fine)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  • Combine vodka, Blueberry Syrup, lemon juice and 2 basil leaves in a mixing glass. Add ice, shake and double-strain over fresh ice into a flute. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a basil sprig and finish with a paper straw.

    Blueberry Syrup

Add blueberries and water to a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook on low heat for 20 to 30 minutes. Strain the blueberry liquid with a fine mesh strainer and discard the blueberry solids. While it is still hot, add sugar to the strained liquid, stirring to dissolve. Let cool and store in a jar in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 weeks.
