Why We Love It: The grandfather of the Michiana brewing scene, LaPorte’s seven-barrel Back Road Brewery has been operating since 1996. Like most craft breweries that followed, it expanded from a home-based operation. The location is nearly hidden from the uninitiated and serious imbibers stand in the bar area to quaff their brews.
