Fall/Holiday 2020 Editor’s Letter

This year has been full of surprises and challenge. And yet for me, there have also been many beautiful moments out in nature—time to reflect and reimagine the future. It’s time for change.

2020 is Edible Michiana’s 10th year of telling the story of local food. What a strange year to wrap up the magazine’s first decade, and what a wonderful surprise that we are announcing new owners who will lead the magazine into its next 10 years.

Trevor and Breanna Daugherty of Goshen, IN, will be the new publishers beginning in January. That means I will be transitioning out of my role as editor in chief as Trevor takes over. It is a bittersweet time, but I am ready.

Our team will continue to bring you the stories and recipes you love. We’re still standing together (physically apart), bringing color and flavor and inspiration for your fall/holiday season.

One story that inspired us is the journey of River Saint Joe, a brewery in Buchanan, MI, that opened at the beginning of the lockdown. They remind us all to support new and old favorite local businesses.

We’ve curated a list of local products perfect for holiday gift-giving, all available to order online. We’ve also got fun do-it-yourself holiday crafts. And pierogi—recipes and a story of the love that one family’s tradition brings to the table.

Pick up your copy of the fall/holiday issue at one of these locations.

I have loved my time as co-publisher and editor of Edible Michiana. Thank you for your continued engagement with the magazine and your continued support of all things local.

All my best!
